Wrought Iron Handicrafts (WIH) had its beginning in 1973 with founder,
Ken Thamert, making and selling creations to individual stores in
Rochester, MN. In 1974 WIH was officially formed as a company. Over the
next few years more and more individuals, schools and businesses
started asking how to purchase these quality metalcraft tools for
themselves - thus began the selling of this fine line - the Metalcraft
Range of Tools. Now Ken was able to share his enjoyment for metalwork
with others and Wrought Iron Handicrafts became the sole distributor
for Metalcraft Tools in the United States and Canada.
In 1988 WIH purchased the Kosy Creations Company, a similar, long-standing business based out of California, and moved Kosy to Rochester. Kosy supplied tools for smaller, more delicate metalworking projects. Now Ken could supply an even wider range of quality metalworking tools. To this day both names - Wrought Iron Handicrafts, Inc.& Kosy Creations are used. Due to the increase in space requirements, both companies were then relocated into a downtown rental building. Finally, in 1999, construction was started on WIH's present building located at 3950 10th Ave NW in Rochester MN. ![]() Today we continue to offer individuals, schools, and businesses our unique line of Metalcraft tools and stampings. Our philosophy is simple: Have quality products backed up with quality service. Treat others with the same respect and courtesy we like to receive. ![]()
